After a voter-approved referendum last November, the Unified School District of Antigo is making progress on a series of capital improvement projects.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the new John H. Bradley Elementary School is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12, at 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend the event located at; 315 Western Avenue on the corner of 5th Avenue and Western Ave.
“This exciting moment for our district is possible thanks to the strong support of our community,” said District Administrator Glenda Oginski. “This successful capital referendum will provide generations of students with upgraded schools and state-of-the-art facilities. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to move forward with capital improvements and create spaces where all students can thrive.”
The architecture firm Blue Design Group has been working closely with district leadership throughout the design process and bidding preparations. Following a competitive bid process, Miron Construction, a Wisconsin-based firm, has been selected as the project’s general contractor.
The referendum also included updates to the middle and high schools. These projects, aimed at addressing the schools’ most urgent facility needs, are moving forward and currently tracking under budget. If costs remain below the approved referendum amount, the district will issue fewer bonds, resulting in long-term savings for taxpayers.
The district will continue to provide updates as construction progresses.
